Hi. I’m Jackie.
I’m Jackie.
I quit drinking alcohol in October of 2023 solely as a way to lose weight. I expected it to be easy to quit because I just thought of myself as a “social” drinker and not a real alcoholic…. whatever that even means. But, when I went to quit it was f*ing hard! And I realized maybe I was more addicted to alcohol than I realized. While I didn’t drink daily, I drank in every social situation for my entire adult life (the ONLY exception was when I was pregnant). I had been drinking heavily for 20+ years and I didn’t even realize it!!
Everytime it was hard for me to say no to a drink with my friends, or at dinner, or in stressful situations, it kept me on the path to relearning my habits. I turned to quit drinking books but found existing programs were NOT at all useful to me as they recommended things like self care and removing all triggers - but my entire life was a trigger and facials or yoga would not help me say no to wine at dinner. So I made up my own program and would you believe it worked!
I am now sober and NEVER EVER going back to the life I had. My body healed ailments in ways I never even imagined possible! Here is a list of some things that healed when I quit drinking:
Hormonal imbalance near healed - no more hormone replacement therapy recommended.
The ability to sleep through the night
35 pounds GONE!
Chronic inflammation GONE!
Lingering lifelong injuries like plantar fasciitis and a broken rib injury that would not heal GONE!
No more bleeding gums.
No more painful indigestion or bloating.
No more hair falling out. No more stringy dry hair!
No more dry, patchy skin.
No more stress or anxiety!
Why would I ever drink again after seeing the results in my body?
I started an Instagram @Soberly_Positive just to start sharing my story, which I also wrote a book about (just trying to find a publisher for now!) And, now I decided I should start a blog to be an easier resource for people because I get so many comments and questions and want to make the info easier to find.
I do not offer counseling but hope my resources help you. As always, I am not a doctor, so please be sure to contact a healthcare provider before you begin any supplements or programs.
Thanks for being here!
Jackie
